IN CASE YOU MISSED IT - SEE THE RECORDED WEBINAR "OUR ICF"

Click here to view the recorded webinar on our About ICF Global page.

The ICF SE Region hosted a webinar on June 9 to give our members an overview of the ICF and the value of being a part of this great organization. Here are the details:

OUR ICF: The story of our beginning, our strategy and value for our members

What began as a handful of coaches sharing dreams for a brand new profession in 1995 became the International Coach Federation. Come hear stories of we got got started and where are we going next. We are 28,000 coaches in 120 chapters in 128 countries. More than 17,000 of us have ICF coaching credentials. But what does that mean for me?
Spend an hour with Todd Hamilton, Associate Director of the ICF and Sara Smith, MCC, co-leader of the ICF Southeast Region in the US to hear the story of the ICF: our beginnings and who we have become; how the organization runs, the value the ICF brings to its members and plans as we move into the future. Come be a part of the journey.

Some good news to report! Chapter member, Lillian LeBlanc, who is employed by Baptist Health South Florida, has been building an internal coaching practice there, over the past 2 years, leveraging the ICF core competencies. The long-range vision is be able to offer the support of an ICF-credentialed internal coach to any leader who desires it. To this end, they developed a coach-specific training program, expanded it to meet the 60 hour minimum educational requirement for ICF membership, and enhanced it to conform to the standards of an ICF-Approved, Coach-Specific Training Program (ACSTH). Lillian received word this month, that the program has been approved! This is a major milestone for the internal coaching service practice and an accomplishment that generates great pride among all who worked hard to make it happen.

Bob Canino, Chapter Director, speaking for the entire ICFCF Leadership Team, offered his congratulations to Lillian on this great achievement. We can all be proud of this awesome feat. Please offer your personal congratulations to Lillian when you can.

At the July 10th, joint meeting of the Sr. HRD Forum and ATD local chapters, Bob Canino was featured with others in a panel of speakers to address the topic, Designing Organizational Coaching Programs: How to Maximize Their Impact.  It all took place at the lovely and historic Safety Harbor Spa & Resort.

Bob, representing The Captree Group and our ICF–CF, Charter Chapter, was joined by other area, coaching and HR professionals:

Carlini Rivers, Organizational Development Manager, at Tech Data,

Karen Droz, Sr. Vice President & Sr. Development Consultant, at Fifth Third Bank, and

Mark Johnson, Sr. Director, Organizational Development at Sykes and father of the St. Pete Saturday Morning Market, who moderated the panel.

The panel was engaging, provided great information and encouraged interaction from those in attendance. Within the context of organizational coaching programs, they provided answers to questions such as -

    Who is being coached?

    Who is providing the coaching?

How intensive is the coaching process?

Wish you knew the answers? Well you should have been there!

It was a most informative and fun-filled morning with great food and the ambiance that only the Safety Harbor Spa & Resort can offer. Oh, and Bob Canino – he represented us very well.

The Childfree Life article Having It All Without Having Children

Laura ScottLaura Scott, our member and Executive, Life and Transition, and Reproductive Decision Making coach at 180 Coaching was featured in the TIME Magazine!

One evening when she was 14 years old, Laura Scott was washing dishes in the kitchen with her mother when she decided she didn't want to have a child. At 26, Scott got married and waited for her mind to change. "It never happened," she says. "And I realized I was going to be fine." Now 50, Scott is more than fine: she's fulfilled. And she's not alone. The birthrate in the U.S. is the lowest in recorded American history. From 2007 to 2011, the most recent year for which there's data, the fertility rate declined 9%. A 2010 Pew Research report showed that childlessness has risen across all racial and ethnic groups, adding up to about 1 in 5 American women who end their childbearing years maternity-free, compared with 1 in 10 in the 1970s.
