    Dare to Lead™ Coaching Courage

    January 31 (Tampa)

Presenter:  Sandy Mitsch, MCC, CPCC, CDTLF

    * Please note that the walk-in fee is $40 for both members and guests.

If you are a fan of Brené Brown’s work, this meeting is a MUST for you.  Sandy is a senior faculty member on Brené’s team and we are most fortunate to have her present information on Dare to Lead™.

Daring coaches and daring leaders know how to have hard conversations, hold themselves and others accountable, lead with empathy and connection, take smart risks that lead to innovation, build trust, reset quickly after disappointments and setbacks, and give and receive feedback – even when it’s tough.

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage-building program. The skill sets that make up courage are not new—they’ve been aspirational leadership skills for as long as there have been leaders. We just haven’t had the courage for real talk about courage. But it’s time. We need braver leaders and more courageous cultures.

Courage is a collection of four teachable, observable, and measurable skills sets:

    1. Rumbling with Vulnerability: Facing risk, uncertainty, and emotional exposure with courage and clarity.

    2. Living into our Values: Identifying, operationalizing, and practicing the beliefs that we hold most important.

    3. BRAVING Trust: Creating or deepening connections in relationships and teams based on the seven elements of trust.

    4. Learning to Rise: Learning and growing from the failures, setbacks, and disappointments that are inevitable when we are brave.

Join Sandy Mitsch, master certified coach and senior certified Dare to Lead™ facilitator, in this interactive exploration of how we can coach leaders to be more courageous. In doing so, start off your new year by answering your own call to courage as a coach.

    February 13, 2020 ICF-ICF Webinar 12-1:30 pm

    Program Description:

Great coaches move us. They move us through a basic human process - our emotions. Effective coaches establish a deep emotional connection with others called resonance. They are in tune with others around them. They create and nurture resonant relationships through mindfulness, hope, compassion, and playfulness. The combined effect of resonant relationships and vision-based coaching results in dramatically more effective results.

Sometimes coaches can become too focused on specific goals and measurements, activating neural networks that support problem-solving. This can lead to chronic stress and can suppress other neural networks needed for creativity. To be most effective, coaches must develop facility with both types of neural networks and develop techniques to reverse the effects of stress and revive themselves. These renewal experiences help a person become more cognitively, perceptually, and emotionally open and more motivated to help others learn, develop, and innovate – which is the ultimate purpose of coaching.

Based on decades of original research into emotional intelligence and coaching, including dozens of longitudinal studies as well as hormonal and neuroimaging studies, our presenters will lead the audience through examples of what effective coaching feels like, as well as understanding the neural processes that foster or inhibit it.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Identify the process for developing sustainable improvement on Emotional Intelligence, resonant relationships and the central role of compassion in it.
    • Describe the psycho-physiological role of the Positive Emotional Attractor and the Negative Emotional Attractor in motivating change or encouraging the status quo regression.
    • Understand how coaching with compassion is effective in helping people change in sustainable ways but coaching for compliance is not.
    • Identify the neural activations involved in these two forms of coaching and why one prepares a person to consider change and learning and the other closes their minds.
    • Learn how to coach others to develop Emotional Intelligence, resonant leadership, and to sustainably change.
