The Ethics of Coaching - Staying Out of Hot Water

November 17 (Tampa)

Presenter: Dr. Patrick Williams

"The Ethics of Coaching - Staying Out of Hot Water"

Being ethical and being lawful are not always the same thing and sometimes we don't know we may be in "hot water” until it might be too late.  Dr. Pat will offer some distinctions for ethical behaviors in the practice of coaching, ways to avoid "sticky situations” and what to do, the importance of critical thinking, having a self reflective standard, and a professional network to mastermind potential ethical situations.  Dr. Pat will present some typical and common cases for us to discuss in small groups and lead a Q&A about the What, the Why, the Why Not, and the How of ethical business practices.

Learning objectives

1.  Learn a historical perspective of ethics in business and professional standards

2.  Learn critical skills for critical thinking if a situation seems questionable

3.  The four C’s for staying out of ethical "hot water"

4.  Learn the six R’s of ethical practice
